Elizabeth Bailey

Elizabeth Bailey, much-loved writer and friend, died
on 8th November 2025Elizabeth Bailey RIP

We were all very sad to learn today that Elizabeth Bailey, a long-time friend and
fellow writer, died on Saturday, 8th November.

She will be hugely missed by her many writing friends, and by all those readers who loved her books. She wrote loads of them, starting with historical romances set in the Georgian and Regency periods and then moved on to writing historical mysteries, featuring her endearing heroine, Lady Fan. You can see them all on her website. And you can read Liz’s illuminating guest blog about the writer’s survival kit here.

We all remember Liz with fondness. She was such fun to be with. And her background as both an actor and director made her a natural for running workshops with writers at RNA conferences. At one workshop, for example, she taught us the intricacies of Grandmother’s footsteps. At another, she showed us the importance for our stories of senses other than sight.
We all learned a great deal from her wisdom and her insights.

We send our deepest condolences to all Liz’s family and friends. We, and her readers, will all miss her very much.
