Lesley Cookman

It is with the utmost sadness that we record the death of
LESLEY COOKMAN

author Lesley Cookman

Lesley was a great friend to all at Libertà
and to many others in the writing community and beyond. And she was
huge fun to be with. We will miss her terribly.

She created the Libby Sarjeant mysteries—her preferred designation
for her stories—and they found thousands of fans all over the world.
Her last book, Murder Under The Cliff, was published shortly before her death
and she was delighted that it was so warmly received.
Lesley was also one of the contributors to Beach Hut Surprise, the
Libertà anthology published in 2020, which contains
a Libby Sarjeant short story.
She commented on Libertà blogs regularly,

using the witty handle Lesley2cats which always made us smile.

Everyone at Libertà sends deepest condolences to Lesley’s children,
Phillipa, Louise, Miles and Leo and their families.
All Lesley’s many friends
will be mourning her loss.

Thank you for posting that, Joanna. It sums it up for many of us – and we will miss her wit and wisdom enormously. I have many happy memories of Lesley, and she left us her books, which is a great legacy.

I have all the Libby books and love them. Such a sad loss for her family and for us her Loonies. RIP Lesley.

Im devastated. I had to have surgery years ago & wrote to her. She graciously comisserated with me. Every now & then I would send her an email. She would replay…it might be a while. But that was fine. She was a lovely lady.
